
Your Brain Exercise of the Week ~ June 20, 2023
Working on your cognition is an important part of keeping your mind sharp and maintaining independence. One way to target your cognitive skills is to complete one or both of the tasks below.
*Remember, for this cognitive activity to qualify as a brain fitness exercise, you should participate at a level that is challenging for you.
Directions:
Using visual imagery, picture the steps you take when getting in the car to drive to a familiar location. Using the steps below, organize the list as it should happen:
– Fasten seat belt
– Drive to the designated location
– Unlock the door
– Start the car
– Get in car
– Put the car in drive
Use a paper/pencil/tablet to help sequence the steps.
BONUS: Try to remember all 6 of the steps after a 5 minute delay.
If the exercise above feels too challenging, try this modification:
Try writing out all of the steps in the correct order. Read them aloud to ensure they make sense in the order you list them.
